Abilene zoo is great zoo but it is also very small. The pricing is very cheap to get in, something like 2 dollars or something. Not enough animals at zoo though.
Excellent Zoo!

Now if you're comparing the Abilene Zoo to the Ft Worth Zoo, or something other large city zoo, it does fall short. But for it's size and location it is wonderful ! My son went there for his school field trip and it was delightful. Everyone was very courteous and friendly and knowledgable. I have always enjoyed going to this zoo and I have been many times over the last 15 years. I feel it is well worth the money.
Very poor zoo experience

The zoo itself is almost as big as the parking lot. You pay a small fee to enter, about $3 for adults, and it takes about seven minutes to see llof the animals. They have one lion, who looks to be very old. There were two giraffes, an elephant or two and some prairie dogs. A lot of the animals are indigenous to Texas, but the setting is so sparse and dismal, it's almost depressing to look at them. The ball fields and park across from the zoo are much more entertaining.
PROS: The weather is almost always good
CONS: Few animals, few exhibits, way too small.
